Singer, rapper, lyricist, MC, and all around lovely human being, Jamie is a triple threat and counting! As a solo artist, she has quickly become an unmissable standout in the span of k-pop’s brief history.

The start of her musical quest began when, at the age of 15, she won the first place in televised singing show K-Pop Star, and in doing so, had an exclusive offer from each of the Big 3 labels (JYP, YG and SM) to sign with them. And it’s no wonder, as her voice is a masterclass in sonic sound! Washing over you like a soft ocean breeze; one moment it’s to you and then around you and all of a sudden you’re somewhere within it. She goes out there with just a microphone and just her voice, and she captivates entire arenas! Bringing exuberance and gravitas to every performance through her shining energy.

She’s embarking on a brand new era after a particularly deserved break since releasing her first full length album One Bad Night in 2022.

In the dead heat of 2024, she stunned us all by announcing she would become the inaugural signee to the freshman label Plan B Entertainment. And she’s come hot out the gates!

Dropped on Halloween, her effervescent voice crosses your ears up to deliver an unbothered aura in her new song “Bad Luck”, which calls on karma to get to work and do its thing.

The response has been great, and people have been clamoring for more. It’s not a drill :) Baby J’s, your girl is back!

We were overjoyed to have the chance to speak with Jamie amidst her packed calendar, and she had some time to answer our pressing questions!

1.You just joined a new label! :) As a fan, this feels like a fresh start! It sounds like you’re going back to your roots. How have things been going since you joined, and what are some things you hope to achieve while there?

Well first, Thank you for this interview. Hello, it's Jamie. Yes, I am back in my roots. I am honestly really happy that I am back and it is a good start for me to look forward to more concerts or stages to meet my fans globally. It's been a long time since I performed.

2.So excited about your new album! :) Can you share a bit about it? When it comes to songwriting, is there an approach you take to each song? And how have you prepared for this album?

For this song and many other songs that I write it's usually what I feel or learn through relationships or friendships or love. Bad Luck is one of the songs that I've been wanting to put it out for a long time. I had it on my notes and it was a good match for the beat.

3.Your singing is so beautiful! And you seem like such a natural! How did you first become interested in singing?

My parents were always into music and my mom used to teach me singing, even though I wasn't really interested in music. I was a little bit of an athletic girl, but I grew. I knew that I was having fun with singing, so it was all natural.

4.Are there any other non-kpop/music projects that you have wanted to do? :)

Always been thinking about doing a band session or rock music not heavy metal, but pop rock because I love the sounds of real instruments and I think it brings out another voice of me when.

5.Some people might not know, but you are a really talented songwriter as you are a performer (with songs for Twice among your credits!). What's that process like for writing for someone other than yourself? Is it easier or harder? etc.

To be really honest I think it's harder for me to work on other projects because I have to know what they want what style what genre and it might be the opposite of what I usually write for myself, but I love to work with other people so if there's a chance, I take it.

6.What are some things that spark inspiration for you?

Inspirations are all from what I've learned throughout my life and what I feel sometimes but the movies it gives you different views. Something that I never learned.

7.Best tip for someone looking to strengthen their journey of getting into the K-pop industry?

K-POP is now a new big genre and I think a lot of global fans or other countries are now excited to hear what K-POP is. The best route that I recommend is just start with one song and you will find interests.

8.Who would be your ultimate dream collab? :D

Well, I always use to say Rihanna, but that is a really big dream. but dream big why not right?

9.Your fashion is so unique! Do you have any style inspirations? Ps. Your hair is so beautiful! Any product recommendations for coloring? Your fans (and me!) would love to know :)

I would say this comeback look is literally how I dress. Usually I like colors, vibrant big patterns. For my hair, green is my favorite color so we just went for that and also I want to bring out K-beauty as rocking in the Makeup industry, skincare, routine foundation, and a lot more

10.A lot of people know you from your previous work as a host on the fantastic show After School Club! What was one of your favorite episodes?

Everyone asked me this question, I can't pick one. It's been like 7 to 8 years of hosting ASC so I might have to just say everything and everyone was amazing. I miss ASC.

Jamie’s own discography includes everything from hip-hop to rap to the soulful side of R&B. Blending her pop stylings with an impactful rap flow for instance, she sings over a candylicious beat on the smile of a song “Numbers”, with the all too true mindset of not letting numbers define you, whether that’s views, likes, age, or money. Teaming with Jay Park on “Apollo 11”, we get to experience more of her unique range as she takes listeners on a sky-bound ride to the stars. And trading lines with Lim Kim in “Love Me Right” we get to see her catchy, coy, attitude intertwine for an undeniable bop!

And the accolades don’t stop there. She's joined Saweetie and Doja Cat on the worldwide phenomena sparked by the epic song “Best Friend”. She has gilded her status as the undisputed queen of the cover, taking on sweeping songs from Adele to Zendaya with ease. And has even once turned the ABC’s into a bouncy, swag-filled earworm! I feel as though they haven’t invented a song that she hasn’t been able to do something new with, and it stands to reason that they won’t come up with one anytime soon. :)

Always willing to mix it up, you can count on Jamie for something fresh and unexpected, though all headed by her fearless vision. Her prodigious musical talents are matched with a down to earth, chill vibe that pulls you in like a magnet to her charismatic authentic self.

If this year was anything to go by, than 2026 is looking to provide big things in the Jamie-verse. And we are so stoked!
